4-H DAIRY AND LIVESTOCK
RULES
AND REGULATIONS
1. All entries must be pre-registered by August
18, 2010. Judging may be done over
a two-day period.
2. All livestock must meet the requirements
of the State of Maryland Animal Health Department and be accompanied by approved
health papers at the time of arrival.
3. All animals must be the bona fide property
of the exhibitor and must be registered as such by June 20, 2010 with Extension
Agent, 4-H and Youth.
4. The Great Pocomoke Fair is open to all without
regard to County or State of residence. To
exhibit in the 4-H Division, you must be enrolled as a 4-H member no later
than June 20, 2010.
5. All 4-H Exhibitors MUST accompany livestock
for weigh-in entry to Fair. All livestock
must arrive between 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 25, 2010
and will be released at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 28, 2010.
6. Exhibitors are asked to bring all equipment
needed. Exhibitors are responsible
for the care of their animals while on the grounds. Pens, stalls, and animals should be kept presentable
at all times. All equipment will be
stored in a specific tack area when not in active use and aisles are to be
clear for the public to move through without risk. All stalls and pens are to be cleaned before
leaving!
7. All animals must be exhibited by their owner,
except in classes where two (2) animals may be shown in the same class and
Fitting & Showing. In this case,
their other animal must be shown by a 4-H member.
8. All Exhibitors will be limited to two (2)
entries in any one class. In the event
there is only one entry in a class, classes may be combined.
9. Proper Fitting & Showing attire is required,
according to the Maryland State Fair Book. Courtesy and respect for livestock, peer exhibitors,
parents/leaders, and the public is expected.
10. Market animals will be weighed or tape measured
and placed in the appropriate class on the day of arrival. Please enter an estimated class when pre-registering.
11. In the event there is only one entry in
a class, the placing shall depend on the merit of the entry and the award
made at the discretion of the judge.
12. Rosettes will be given for Champion placing.
13. No drugs or alcoholic beverages will be
tolerated.
14. Every effort will be made to protect the
animals or entries while on the fairgrounds.
However, The Great Pocomoke Fair Board disclaims any responsibility
for loss or damage to persons or property.
15. All rules are subject to final interpretation
by the Livestock Superintendent. Any
rule, interpretation, or change made by the Superintendent shall reflect the
best interests of the 4-H/FFA program and the youngsters involved.
DEPARTMENT “F” FOWL
DIVISION “N” POULTRY
1. Poultry show will be open to 4-H Youth, Open
Junior and Open Adult and will be displayed from Wednesday to Saturday.
2. State of Maryland regulations require that
all poultry entered into Exhibition must have originated from Pullorum-Typhoid clean flock or have had a negative test within
30 days of exhibition. Youth and 4-H
may have a letter signed by the County Extension Agent that the birds originated
from Pullorum-Typhoid clean flocks.
3. All birds must be blood tested prior to the
show and have approved papers, which must accompany birds on the day of entry.
4. Entrants are limited to a total of 15 birds.
There may be more than one entry per class.
5. Exhibitors are responsible for providing food
and water for their birds.
6. All entries must pre-register by August 18,
2010.
7. All poultry will be accepted for exhibit between
5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 and will be released
at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 28, 2010.
8. Judging will start at 10:00 a.m. Saturday,
August 28, 2010.
9. Birds must be removed at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday,
August 28, 2010.

The Grand Champion and Reserve Champion must come from Class 7A or
7B.

will be shown in Fitting & Showing (if necessary) and be eligible for
